Sjálfbærni, samfélag og skapandi hugsun: Seminar for school teachersPilot Cities (Tilraunaborgir) is a collaborative research and innovation project between the municipality of Reykjavík and the University of Iceland. The project focuses on transportation patterns and waste sorting challenges of residents in the capital area, but it also explores cultural and social aspects of these issues. As part of this project, a one day seminar for primary school teachers was held on August 18th. Here the focus was on how teachers in different age levels can integrate sustainability, democracy and inclusion into all aspects of their teaching in creative ways. Members of the Climate Crisis and Affect network helped organize the seminar.

Tipping Points: Symposium in StykkishólmurThis year marks the 180th anniversary of the meteorological observations in Stykkishólmur started by Árni Thorlacius in 1845. These measurements have long been used in climate and meteorological research. On that occasion a symposium is being organized which will discuss climate issues in a broad context, both scientifically, socially and also how art can be used as a medium. Following the symposium, there will be an opening of an art exhibition called Vendipunktar/Tipping points, featuring artists who work with nature and different tipping points. Members of the Climate Crisis and Affect network will participate in the symposium, which is October 11, 2025 in Stykkishólmur. More information should be made public soon.

Confluence of European Water BodiesThe third edition of the Confluence of European Water Bodies will take place in the Netherlands, from 21–24 September 2025. On September 21st, it will open with a choral ritual titled Drop, Ripple, Puddle, O. Panel on Planetary ThinkingLocated at Justus-Leibig University of Gießen, the Panel on Planetary Thinking conducts transdisciplinary scientific research on planetary thinking, a novel approach that moves away from anthropocentrism and conceptions around the ‘globe’. Planetary thinking means to acknowledge that human societies are deeply entangled with the life of an ever-changing planet—a planet that expands spatially from the Earth’s core to interplanetary space, temporally from nanoseconds to geologic time scales, and materially from elementary particles to the dark matter of the universe. To mark the Panel’s fourth and final round, all past and present visiting fellows will host a three-day symposium called "From Relations to Politics: Pathways towards a Planetary Praxis" at Castle Rauischholzhausen (November 18-20). angela Snæfellsjökuls rawlings and other members of the Climate Crisis and Affect network will participate in the symposium.
