Seminar for Staff at UI: Calculate your carbon footprint

11. Feb – 10:00 to 12:00. Location: Aðalbygging A-229

What is a carbon footprint and why should we measure it?

You will know all the answers to that question after attending this course, which consists of two parts: the first half will be in the form of a lecture on the topic of greenhouse gas emissions and the danger that they pose for human societies, pathways to reduce those emissions and the role of authorities, private companies and individuals in achieving those reductions.

In the latter half of the course, participants will get a chance to calculate their own individual footprints using an online calculator and with the assistance of the instructor. At last, participants will share their experience and feelings about using the calculator, discuss different ways to reduce a carbon footprint, both from the perspective of the individual and of society as a whole.

The motto of this lecture is: no pointing fingers, just some fun and a few good moments shared in good company!
