From 29 September to 1 October 2025, the Media for Future training programme in Hvolsvöllur, Iceland, brought together journalists and climate scientists to improve communication, promote cooperation and strengthen the social impact of climate reporting. Over three days, participants took part in hands-on workshops, field trips, panel discussions, and interactive sessions that combined practical exercises with scientific insights and journalistic experience.
The Erasmus+ project Media for Future brings together scientists and journalists to strengthen their ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, raise awareness of the urgency of climate change, and inspire action.
At the international traing programme in Hvolsvöllur were journalists and scientists from Ireland, Iceland, Egypt, Germany, and Portugual. Members of the Climate Crisis and Affect network, Ole Martin Sandberg and Þorvarður Árnason both paticipated with presentations and the workshop was organized by Christopher Long from the The Natural Science Institute of the Westfjords.
